Original art created as part of Folktale Week 2024. Folktale Week is a creative instagram challenge I enjoy participating in. Each year, I try to create a body of work that is meaningful to me and helps me develop new skils or make progress from where I am at the time.

I love collecting vintage tins and have a lovely selection of little treasures. Some of them were cigar boxes, adorned with images and lettering from past times, others reused to hold buttons or other small items. The tins made the perfect spaces to tell visual stories and create little worlds in!

My “folktales” created in these tins have no storyline, beginning or end – they rather show what I imagine as a scene. What happened before or may happen still is up to you to imagine.

15,5cm width, 14,7cm height, 2cm depth // 6.1 in width, 5.8 in height, 0.8in depth

Materials:
Vintage WK Berlin Goldblatt cigar box, watercolor and other paper, ink, paint, little shell, dried plant part dipped in black ink
